Regarding Region changes on your computer's DVD-Rom drive:

Please note this information is GENERALLY SPEAKING.  Your individual situation may not follow this explanation, but this should give you enough information to understand what you need to do for your PC.

99% of the time, the DVD-Rom drive on your computer is capable of playing both PAL and NTSC DVDs.  It is also capable of playing different Region coded DVDs.  (For a list of all the Region codes and which country they belong to, see the list at the bottom of this page.)  However, your DVD-Rom drive is limited in the number of times you can change the Region code.  This is usually five, sometimes four.

When playing a DVD from another Region than your DVD-Rom drive is currently set to, your computer will prompt you to change the code.  Just follow the instructions.

To change the code manually (PC users, Windows XP), go to My Computer and right click the DVD drive, select Properties.  Click on the Hardware tab.  In the bottom right hand corner, click on Properties.  Click the DVD Region tab.  Select the country where the DVD you wish to play is from then click OK.  This tab will also tell you how many changes you have left before the change becomes permanent.

Note:  Once you have changed the code, you can play as many different DVDs as you like that are from that Region.  But once you have reached your limit, you will not be able to change the code again, so proceed with caution!  Or be prepared to buy a new DVD-Rom drive.

To view the .swf or .flv files, please download the free players:

Swiff or VideoLan <-- Highly recommend this one!

Thanks to ROSE try this player (FLVplayer) if you're still having difficulty!

For ".rm" or ".rmp" files, you must have Real Player.  Download the FREE Real Player file here.  Once on the page, click the FREE PLAYER link as indicated in this pic:

Tips:

After downloading a file, open the folder where you saved it and double click it.  This will allow your computer to decide what player to use to play the file.

If you are having difficulty opening .mpg files try this:

Open any folder on your computer (example: My Documents), click Tools then Folder Options, then select the View File Types tab. Scroll down until you find .MPG in the left hand column. Highlight it by click it once. Down in the bottom box it will now say "Opens With" and will probably have the PowerDVD icon and name there. Next to that is a button that says "Change..." Click it and scroll through the programs until you find Windows Media Player. Make sure there is a check mark in the box that says, "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" then click OK. Click OK again on the Folder Options box and then you're all set! You can do that for any file type you want to force a certain program to open. You just need to know the extension of the file type. From Roheryn at Crowe Crossing (for MAC users):

If anyone with a Mac is annoyed at having to use Wimpy FLV Player to play those Flash .flv files that have been popping up lately, I've found a plug-in for QuickTime 7.* under OS 10.4 that enables you to play the Flash files in QT.
It's called Perian 0.5 and can be downloaded at VersionTracker. It's freeware and is rated by users 4.9 out of 5. It's still only a beta version but I've had no problems at all. It just installs and you don't have to reboot.
It's very handy to me to be able to watch as much multimedia as possible in QuickTime, because it's great to be able to go through the footage frame by frame. I've also upgraded to QTPro, which is well worth the $29.99.
